Comments for Cold-calls and Madison Maclean recruitment

I had one agent cold call me every 3 months for nearly two years. I told him repeatedly I was happy where I was. After two years of this he got annoyed and accused me of wasting his time!!

It's such a dumb fuck attitude (of his) to take.

"Let me just lie to you and tell you how much you deserve to be talked at / shat on. I do hope you'll remember us and I look forward to working with you in the future and cultivating a close, productive relationship."

Recruitment companies aren't all bad but it's fucking downright stupid of them if they aren't courteous in receipt of a "go away." And want to stay in business.

I think avoiding recruitment agents in general is a good idea. Once you are on their lists it's very hard to get off them and normally involves rudeness and shouting.

Plus, they are quite happy to sell your details to other recruitment companies, sometimes in other countries. I once received an unsolicited call from an agent in Germany... I don't even speak German!

"wow. does this mean you need to have a ‘no recruitment agencies pls’ signature appended to every online post you make?!"

Heh, that doesn't make an iota of difference. If anything, it serves to upset yourself because you know they're calling even though you have 120pt red "NO CALLS FROM RECRUITMENT AGENCIES!" signs all over your "virtual life". Recruitment agents are often pretty much used car salesmen type of people.

Someone from this place just tried to call me too. Luckily the receptionist here is pretty switched onto these guys and rejected their call... they emailed me instead, saying they have "excellent career opportunities with some major Banks and hedge funds including Goldman Sachs, Man Investments and UBS". But they have no listings on jobserve or efinancials.... seems like a scam to me.

**Warning - This Data Protection Advice may cause extreme boredom** I say revenge is a dish best served cold. Under Data Protection reqs, Data Controllers (of which they will be) are required to comply with Subject Access Requests with provide an individual with details of what data the company holds about them, and the source of the data. Even if they have nothing, they have to respond within 40 days of receipt to tell you. I say lets do just that! For templates for your subject access request, see www.ico.gov.uk

A few days ago I was interviewed by someone from Madison Maclean and I can strongly recommend NOT to work with this agency. I sent the guy, whom at least at the moment I don't want to name, my CV and told him several times on the phone and via email NOT to forward my CV to any companies without my explicit permission. Already five minutes after the interview I received the first email from a company confirming my applications. hmm....!!!!
if a company asks you to remove a post you made about a crappy exp (w/o apology), do you? MM want this down: http://tinyurl.com/2c99nbn
